Hardin Planetarium was built as part of Thompson Complex and was dedicated on October 13, 1967. The planetarium seats approximately 200 spectators. It contains a projection hemisphere room, display galleries, and offices.
The planetarium was named for Hardin Cherry Thompson [1938-1963], son of President Kelly Thompson who died during his senior year at Western.
Hardin Planetarium, both a building and a program, provides educational programming and shows for all ages about astronomy, cosmology, and space exploration.
