Description Collection consists of survey questionnaires and photographs related to fifteen outdoor sculptures in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This information was gathered as part of the Save Outdoor Sculpture! project, cosponsored by the National Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Property and the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. The project was initiated in order to determine the location, description, and basic condition of sculpture in the United States and promote its long-term care and maintenance. Jonathan Jeffrey coordinated the project in Warren County. Paul Franklin Wood completed the survey questionnaires and took the photographs as part of his Eagle Scout badge requirements. Eight of the sculptures are located on the campus of Western Kentucky University, three are located at the Bowling Green Public Library, and four others are found in various locations around the city. Information related to the sculptors is provided where available. Additionally, photographs of the sculptures surveyed in 1994 are included. The 2008 survey forms are also available in PDF format and the 2008 and 1994 pictures are also available in digital format. For the documentation related to the 1994 survey see Manuscripts Small Collection 912.
