Papers - Beasley, Robert, Sr., b. 1926

This collection of World War II letters was written by Robert Beasley, Sr. to his girlfriend and wife, Louise (Buckles) Beasley in Caneyville, KY. The early letters (1942-43) are courtship letters; the remainder are letters sent while Beasley was in Army training in Indiana and Arkansas and later abroad. The bulk of the collection are letters sent from Germany. In the letters Beasley describes common everyday Army life and occasionally talks about the war. After the war's completion he is most anxious to return home and comments frequently about his desire to be with his wife and their new son, Robert, Jr. The collection dates from 1942-1946 and consists of 262 items, photocopies only.
