Description Appliqué portrait of a figure inspired by an illustration in the article, "1840s Fashion," which ran in "Vogue" magazine in July 1930. Embroidery highlights on the bonnet, face, and ermine wrap and stole. The green cotton ground is quilted in a flower and trellis pattern, the batting is cotton, and the backing is muslin. One of several appliqués the maker elected not to use on her Godey Quilt.
