Description |
Rectangular devotional miniature relief wood carving with openwork of a Repentant Magdalena. She bears attributes of Mary Magdalene like very long, disheveled flowing hair, tearful eyes, and she is embracing the Cross. She is wearing a heavily draped robe and mantel and looks upwards to her left. Her left shoulder is disrobed. The carved plate includes a frame in the form of a "Trompe-l'œil" and, at the bottom, a rhombus "cartouche" with "S Magdalena" on it. The "frame" has zig-zag motifs and roses at the corners. |
