Description |
Egg basket, rib construction, made entirely from white oak. Basket exemplifies the traditional Cannon County, TN style. Weavers are fine and thin throughout. Ribs are thin, circular, and tightly packed. Basket has a lashed rim with an extra rib placed above. A semi-circular area of heartwood, or darker sections of white oak, surround the underside of each tie. The maker calls this a heartwood, "smile." Hoops are connected with a traditional Cannon County tie. Signature on the inside bottom of the basket reads, "Sue H. Williams." Artist's initials written inside the handle read, "SHW." |
