A. W. Randolph jacket. Columbus Depot Type II Confederate shell jacket. Wool jean and osnaburg. Hand sewn. Note: This shell jacket was worn by A. W. Randolph,1839-1895, of Louisville, KY, who mustered in at Bowling Green, Company B, 6th Kentucky Infantry, of the 1st Kentucky Brigade. The First Kentucky became known as "the Orphan Brigade" because of the high casualty rates it suffered during the war. |
